Inventory Control Specialist

The Inventory Control Specialist will maintain company inventory for MBF Bioscience’s advanced microscopy hardware.  The position will order necessary items for complex microscope and electronics systems and maintain accurate records of all procurements associated with managing inventory. 



  • Responsible for purchasing and inventory control to enable delivery of products. 
  • Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, material control, and scheduling. 
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure correct delivery, quality and production from vendors. 
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate bills of materials and assemblies in inventory control system. 
  • Responsible for a formalized inventory cycle count control system to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity. 
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with co-workers to ensure cohesiveness within the company. 
  • Create and maintain procedural documentation. 
  • Position is full-time, in-house at our Vermont office.

Quality Assurance & Scientific Data Technician

Perform testing for MBF Bioscience hardware and software products. Additionally, using MBF products to collect data for product development.



  • Play a key role in a team-based environment for software product testing to ensure our products operate according to expectations. This includes reporting of flaws, failures or faults during development and maintenance phases of the product’s lifecycle
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues and develop solutions for customers while gaining an understanding of their scientific needs
  • Provide direct pre-sales demonstrations and evaluations to product managers and sales team
  • Work with a team to perform data collection for software development
  • Use state-of-the-art microscopy equipment to collect reliable and accurate data
  • Create and maintain technical and procedural documentation


Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of concepts and components of microscopy software and hardware for biological research
  • Ability to work and continually prioritize in a multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to diagnose, document, and resolve technical problems
  • Ability to create data spreadsheets, graphs, and charts in Microsoft Office, GraphPad
  • Desired experience and skills:
    • Microscopy operation, including brightfield, widefield, confocal
    • Experience with application of stereological theory for data collection

Customer Service Specialist

As a Customer Services Specialist you will help leading researchers to advance scientific knowledge by providing technical assistance, product training, and installation services for MBF Bioscience’s cutting-edge microscopy image analysis software and computer-controlled microscope systems.



  • Provide email, phone, and online remote support for some of the world’s top neuroscientists including software troubleshooting, hardware repair, installation, and service of computers and specialized microscopy products.
  • Efficiently diagnose technical issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Become an expert on MBF Bioscience’s software and hardware products and provide remote and onsite user training.
  • Document interactions with customers and to continuously improve internal documentation to facilitate efficient operations and customer service.
  • Assist with study design, analysis pipelines, and parameter optimization.
  • Travel to customer locations for onsite installations of new systems, existing equipment relocations, or component integrations (roughly 5 days per month).


Job Requirements

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of neuroscience, image analysis, and/or basic microscopy experience
  • Experience in installing and troubleshooting computer peripherals
  • Experience with web app support, Docker, WAMP and/or LAMP application stacks including Windows/Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts such as SSL/TLS, port communication, domain name resolution, and firewall settings (Windows and Linux preferred)

Senior FPGA Systems Engineer

MBF Bioscience is looking for a talented FPGA systems engineer that wants to work on the cutting edge of understanding brain function.  Design the next generation of hardware and software to control state of the art brain imaging systems.



  • Develop FPGA designs to perform data acquisition, signal processing, and signal generation
  • Develop low-level kernel driver software to interface with FPGA device
  • Develop desktop applications that utilize FPGA based data acquisition systems

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency with Verilog
  • At least 3 years writing large complex FPGA designs in Verilog
  • Strong proficiency with Vivado environment
  • Project and non-project design flows
  • Hierarchical design flows
  • Advanced timing closure techniques
  • Integrating high-level IP modules (PCI Express, JESD204B, etc.)
  • Developing original IP modules using IP packager
  • Experience targeting designs for the Xilinx Kintex Ultrascale platform
  • Partial reconfiguration / Dynamic Function eXchange
  • Clocking resources (MMCM/PLL)
  • I/O interfaces (SelectIO, GTH transceivers)
  • Working knowledge of circuit design and board level communication interfaces
  • LVDS, SPI, I2C, JESD204B
  • Experience interfacing with high-speed ADC and DAC components
  • Experience utilizing electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer)

Software Developer

Interested in programmers at all experience levels to develop commercial scientific software in our web and desktop applications.



  • Develop and maintain our current suite of applications
  • Design and create new products for MBF Bioscience’s customers
  • Perform software and algorithm development and feasibility research for product development utilized in all current and future MBF software products
  • Create, maintain, and apply MBF coding standards
  • Integrate new hardware in MBF software products
  • Work with Product Managers to determine the priority and schedule for software features and requirements
  • Communicate algorithmic descriptions to other members of the R&D group in written and oral presentations
  • Use good software development practices to write code that fulfills feature requirements, is robust, and easily maintainable

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience programming using C++
  • Python, Qt, or MFC experience a plus
  • Passion for development and desire to learn
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
