Add a scale bar to your tracing, embed a scale bar in an image, or display a scale bar while using BrightSLICE. |
Adding a scale bar

Click Scale bar on the Publish ribbon.

In the Scale Bar Settings window, adjust the following settings:

Scale Bar Length: Enter the desired length.

Scale Bar Height: Enter the desired height.

Show Label: Check the box to show the length of the scale bar.

Show Units: Check the box to show µm after the length label.

Click and choose a color from the color picker window to change the scale bar color.

Click to choose a font type, style, size and effects for the scale bar

Select a scale bar placement option:

Click to place the scale bar at that location: Click in the Main window to place the scale bar; it will be centered on the point you click.

Place automatically in the lower right corner of the image: Check the box to have the scale bar placed 10 pixels in from the bottom and left edges of the image.

Enter Coordinates: Check the box and type an X and Y coordinate for the placement location.

Click
to place the scale bar.
By default, the scale bar is now a part of your tracing/data file.
Use the Snapshot tool tool to capture an image of the current display.
Editing a scale bar

Click Select objects on the Publish ribbon.

Click the scale bar to select it. You should see a small white square in the middle, indicating that the scale bar is selected.

Right-click to access editing options:

Embed into Image: If an image is open and selected in the Image Organizer, the selected scale bar can be embedded in that image for publication.
If part of the scale bar is placed outside of the image, the scale bar cannot be embedded into the image.
Once a scale bar has been embedded, it becomes part of the image and can no longer be moved, deleted or have its properties changed.

Move selected scale bar: Click then drag the scale bar to a different location.

Delete selected scale bar: Click to delete the scale bar.

Keep scale bar onscreen: Click to lock the scale bar to its current position. It will remain in the same location onscreen if the rest of the tracing is moved.

Change scale bar settings...: Edit the color, font, height, length of the scale bar, and show/hide labels or units.

Exit selection tool: Click to exit object-selection mode.
