Resize (image)

Purpose

You may want to resize images for use in publications and presentations. In order to preserve your original images, Neurolucida 360 software creates copies of images to be resized and alters the size settings of the copies, without affecting the original.

Before you start

You may want to open the Image Organizer; it displays the file name and dimensions (in pixels) of images that are currently open.

Procedure

  1. Click Image>Modify image>Resize.
  2. In the Image Size dialog box, select Image size settings and click OK.

  3. The Image Save as window opens. Adjust the file name and location as desired and save the resized image.

The saved image will have the adjustments you selected for Image size settings, but note that the image at its original size will be displayed on screen; it will remain open in Neurolucida 360 until you close it.

To view and work with the image at the new sizing, you must open it.

Pixel Dimensions

Under Pixel Dimensions, enter the desired (width and height) in pixels. Neurolucida 360 software automatically adjusts the image resolution.

  • A higher resolution is better suited for printing.
  • A lower resolution is better suited for screen display.

If you process the image with a third-party program (e.g., Adobe Photoshop) later on, you may have to set the resolution again. The pixel dimensions will be preserved in any program.

Planes (displayed when you're resizing an image stack)

Under Planes, enter the Z-planes that you want to save in your resized image or leave unchanged to save all Z-planes.
