Networks
Purpose
The Networks analysis generates a summary of metrics for selected vessels. Vessels are defined as series of line segments used to trace the vessels.
Analysis results
Individual Network Summary
The Network - Summary window opens; it reports metrics for each individual vessel network.
Network: The network name.
Branching nodes: Total number of branching nodes in the network.
Endings: Total number of endings in the network.
Total length (µm): Total length of the line segments used to trace the vessels.
Avg Diameter (µm): Average diameter of all vessels in each network.
Total surface area (µm²): Total surface area values for each network are computed by modeling the pieces of the segments as frusta (i.e., truncated right circular cones).
Total volume (µm³): Total volume values for each network are computed by modeling the pieces of the segments as frusta (i.e., truncated right circular cones).
Loop count: Total number of loops in the network. A loop is defined as a series of line segments that start and end at the same node, without repeating a node or segment that is already in its path.
All Network Summary
The All Network Totals window opens; combined metric values are reported for all selected vessels.
Isolated elements: Total number of networks included in the calculations.
Branching nodes: The combined total number of branching nodes in all the networks.
Endings: The combined total number of endings in all the networks.
Total length (µm): Total length of the line segments used to trace the vessels in all the networks.
Total surface area (µm²): Total surface area values for all networks are computed by modeling the pieces of the segments as frusta (i.e., truncated right circular cones).
Total volume (µm³): Total volume values for all networks are computed by modeling the pieces of the segments as frusta (i.e., truncated right circular cones).
