Trace association panel

Purpose

MicroDynamix software compares two sets of traced structures to create associations between structures seen at different time points in a series.

You can refine your results by editing associations detected automatically and creating new ones manually.

Procedure

Click Association in the Workflow section of the ribbon to open the Trace Association panel.

Load Timepoint

Because MicroDynamix software is designed for evaluating changes in a series of images/image stacks, it associates images in pairs. For example, if image stacks A, B, and C, representing time points 1, 2, and 3, are loaded, and A and B are currently displayed, clicking Next will display images B and C.

Click the prev or next button to display the previous or next image pair.

Center on the selected tracings

Check the box, Center on the selected tracings to center and zoom the field of view on the traced structure you select in either the active viewport or in the tables for Associated Tracing and Unassociated Tracings.

This can be helpful for reviewing and creating associations between structures traced in different time points.

Associated tracings

A tree or a spine identified in both sets of tracings is represented with the same color.

  • To inspect the association of a tree or a spine between timepoints, click an item in the table or click a traced structure in the active tracing viewport. The "associated tracing" in the other viewport will also be selected.
  • You may find that two structures are incorrectly associated; to cancel the association, click the X in the Break column.

Unassociated tracings

To associate two structures:

  1. Select a traced structure by either clicking on it in the active tracing viewport or in the Unassociated tracings table.
  2. Select the corresponding structure that you want to associate with the first structure in the same way (switching viewports if needed by clicking the Use Left/Right Viewport button in the ribbon or by hitting the spacebar on your keyboard).
  3. Click the Associate left and right selected tracings button.
