Drs. Mark West and Susan Tappan will discuss sources of quantification bias in biological experiments. This webinar will explore error and bias -- and how proper implementation of design-based stereology can eliminate much of this bias. Stereology is considered the gold standard methodology for unbiased and precise quantification of microscopic biological features of tissues. Since stereology incorporates statistical estimates of quantities of structural parameters and populations of objects, we will be discussing statistical biases. We will also discuss other sources of bias, and how to implement probes to control bias and accurately estimate precision in order to enable rigorous scientific comparisons.
