In this practical demonstration, Dr. Susan Hendricks and Alissa Wilson use Stereo Investigator 10 to explain methods for estimating the area of regions on individual sections and the volume of biological structures contained on multiple sections. They illustrate the most popular point-counting technique used for stereological cross-sectional area estimation and then show Cavalieri's method for volume estimation. Estimation of component volumes and volume fraction is demonstrated using the Area Fraction Fractionator probe.
This presentation demonstrates how to use Stereo Investigator to estimate area and volume of regions of interest from histological sections, images, and contours.
