Quantify Neuronal Morphology
(Neurolucida)

Neurolucida system on an Olympus BX51
Neurolucida systems can be configured to meet your specific research needs

  • Perform detailed morphometric analysis of neurons, such as quantifying branching structures, dendritic spine distribution, creating detailed anatomical models. Neurolucida is the standard neuron reconstruction tool in neuroscience laboratories worldwide.

  • Perform sophisticated neuron reconstructions on single or multiple cells. Combine high-magnification neuron tracing with low-magnification cytoarchitectural mapping. Trace neurons in single or multiple serial sections. Map dendritic spines, axonal boutons, terminals, and relevant anatomical features.
  • Obtain detailed neuroanatomical analyses including dendrograms, Sholl analyses, fan-in diagrams, polar histograms, and quantify hundreds of morphometric parameters such as dendritic length, spine density, and branching angles.
  • Work directly with a computer-controlled microscope using a fully integrated Neurolucida system, or with Neurolucida Workstation software to work with image stacks from confocal microscopes with the Image Stack Module.
  • Now perform automated neuron tracing with our AutoNeuron extension module for Neurolucida. AutoNeuron is the product of more than 10 years of research and development. It is the state-of-the-art in automatic neuron tracing software.
