Solutions for Research
The Solutions section of our website helps you to see various research challenges that can be solved using our products. Each solution discusses a research challenge and lists the software or system that provides a solution.
The Research Examples section will point you to actual studies in which our products were used to either gather data, analyze, or display the visual information.
New integration with confocal devices for microscopy
(Stereo Investigator)
We are pleased to announce that we have added support for two leading confocal devices for microscopy: the CARV II and the Qioptiq OptiGrid.
Dendritic Arbor Development
(Neurolucida)
One factor that makes a neuron uniquely suited for a particular function is its morphology. The nature of the dendritic arbor affects the connectivity and electrical properties of the neuron, and arbor abnormalities are associated with neurological diseases. Many classification schemes have been based on neuronal morphology, but a recent article demonstrates a mechanism by which different classes of dendritic arbors arise.
New, Easy Setup of Multiple-User Accounts
(Neurolucida and Stereo Investigator)
With version 9.0 of our software, you can now easily configure a Neurolucida or Stereo Investigator system to support multiple users, each with their own personalized settings.
Using Neurolucida for Dendritic Spine Analysis
Use Neurolucida for quantitative and qualitative analysis of dendritic spines.
Need Help With Stereology? Use MBF Labs Pilot Study
Not only do we make Stereo Investigator, the most cited software for stereology, but now we’re offering to do your work for you. Send us your slides, and we’ll complete a comprehensive pilot study.
Avoiding Bias with the Optical Fractionator
(Stereo Investigator)
If the stereological probe is designed well, and we can manage to follow all the rules, bias due to sampling design and estimation methods will be eliminated, resulting in a more accurate estimate.
What is Stereology?
Stereology provides an important contribution to the advancement in biomedical research by improving the consistency and dependability of quantitative analytical results produced in the laboratory and reported in scientific publications.
Quantify Neuronal Morphology
(Neurolucida)
Perform detailed morphometric analysis of neurons, such as quantifying branching structures, dendritic spine distribution, creating detailed anatomical models. Neurolucida is the standard neuron reconstruction tool in neuroscience laboratories worldwide.
Web-based research collaboration
(Biolucida Cloud)
Collaborate with remote colleagues by sharing virtual slides of microscopic slide specimens via the internet.
Count multiple fluorescently labeled cells
(Stereo Investigator)
Stereo Investigator, combined with a spinning disk confocal microscope allows you to use stereology to quantify data rapidly, without bias or unnecessary over-sampling, getting you quickly to statistically valid results.
