Structured Illumination Imaging and Analysis with Neurolucida and Stereo Investigator

ABSTRACT:
MBF Bioscience has integrated the Zeiss ApoTome structured illumination device with our software packages to provide a cost-effective solution for high-quality optical sectioning with a widefield fluorescence microscope. In this practical demonstration, Dr. Susan Hendricks and Michael Fay will discuss the benefits of this technology and demonstrate the image acquisition process within Neurolucida and Stereo Investigator. We will compare widefield vs. ApoTome images and image stacks to show the increased image quality gained by removing out-of-focus light for improved axial resolution. We will discuss employing the ApoTome for common experimental applications such as neuron tracing and stereological analysis.
