ABSTRACT:
In this practical demonstration, Dr. Susan Hendricks and Alissa Wilson will use Stereo Investigator 10 to explain methods for estimating the area of regions on individual sections and the volume of biological structures contained on multiple sections. They will illustrate the most popular point-counting technique used for stereological cross-sectional area estimation and then show Cavalieri’s method for volume estimation. Estimation of component volumes and volume fraction will be demonstrated using the Area Fraction Fractionator probe.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
This presentation will demonstrate how to use Stereo Investigator to estimate area and volume of regions of interest from histological sections, images, and contours.
