![]() Experimental Design for Stereology |
An introduction to experimental design for stereological estimation of cell number
DATE: Wednesday, September 9, 2009
TIME: 3:00 PM EST [12:00 PM PT]
SPEAKER: Susan Hendricks, Ph.D., Staff Scientist, MBF Bioscience
ABSTRACT:
Design based stereology is a powerful method for unbiased determination of cell population estimates. To achieve accuracy and efficiency during the application of stereological methods, sampling design must be considered at the outset of the study. We will discuss the impact of systematic random sampling, how to implement the optical fractionator principle and the importance of histological techniques. This presentation will serve as the first in a series of practical applications of stereology theory.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
This presentation will highlight experimental design considerations for efficient cell population estimates using Stereo Investigator.
