Improvision and MBF Partnership




MBF Bioscience is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Improvision, developers of the market leading Volocity software product suite for image acquisition, visualization and quantitation. Volocity provides outstanding functionality in terms of 3D visualization of images captured from brightfield and confocal microscope systems. Neurolucida and AutoNeuron are the leading solutions for manual and automated neuron tracing.

In the upcoming releases of Volocity, Neurolucida and AutoNeuron, Neurolucida tracings can be displayed as an overlay to a 2D image or 3D rendering in Volocity. This means that neuroscientists can now have all the benefits of using an accurate and easy to use neuron tracing product together with the outstanding 3D rendering techniques provided by Volocity. Z stacks or single images can be captured using Volocity Acquisition or from a confocal microscope, and then exported to Neurolucida to perform neuroanatomical analysis and to create the neuron tracing. The tracing data, in XML format, is then imported back into Volocity Visualization where it appears as a Measurement item and the tracing and images are automatically linked by the software. The process can also be applied to image data acquired from a wide field or confocal microscope.

This new functionality will be included in Neurolucida 7.51 and Volocity 4.1, (to be released March 15, 2007) and requires Volocity Visualization and Volocity Quantitation. For more information about this exciting new development, please visit the Improvision Product Page
