Stereology is considered in most biological sciences to be the most accurate and efficient way to estimate the number, length, and volume of cells.
+ Learn more about Stereology
Stereo Investigator is designed to get you the unbiased, accurate stereological data you need as quickly as possible. Each Stereo Investigator system is tailored to your research needs yet gives you room to add capabilities should your needs evolve.

MBF technical and research support comes with each system purchase to give personal attention to your software, hardware, or experimental design question.
Analyze the structure of neurons by tracing them in 3D with Neurolucida. Trace neurons at a microscope from a physical slide, or at a computer with image stacks. Obtain a wide variety of quantitative data about dendrites, axons, nodes, synapses, and spines.
Each Neurolucida system is tailored to your research needs yet gives you room to add capabilities should your needs evolve. All systems include any hardware you need, such as a microscope, computer, motorized stage, camera, etc.
MBF technical and research support also come with each system purchase to give personal attention to your software, hardware, or experimental design question.
MBF software integrates with the newest microscopes to capture 2D images, 3D image stacks, and 2D & 3D whole slide images.
We support the latest imaging methods - structured illumination, laser scanning confocal and two-photon microscopy- to capture the most accurate images of your specimen.
Improve your images even further with deconvolution software. The clearer your images are, the better your data will be.

Whole slide images(or virtual slides) are digital reconstructions of entire physical specimen in 2D or 3D. They are used for research purposes and for medical education. The digital format allows you to preserve tissue specimen for future use, especially fluorescent tissue that bleaches and fades.
You can easily view, analyze, and share specimens over the internet with Biolucida Cloud, Stereo Investigator, and Neurolucida. MBF has a suite of products for whole slide imaging, sharing, and analysis.

Stimulating retina tissue with light patterns is a method to examine an experimental hypothesis exploring retinal neurons’ reaction to light.
The Lucivid allows researchers to stimulate retinal specimens with computer generated graphics and patterns in color or black and white.
With Neurolucida, researchers can map the distribution of a particular cell type in brain tissue or examine the location of a network of traced neurons in a brain region. View the region of interest at any angle in 3D with advanced visualization tools in Neurolucida.
C. elegans are nematodes used as model organisms in many research fields including genetics, toxicology, human development, and neurodegeneration.
WormLab gives researchers a wide variety of accurate and precise analyses about C. elegans locomotion, including position, speed, direction, and wavelength. The software can track and analyze a single worm or multiple worms, even as they interact or become entangled.
Using an optical step wedge or radioactivity standards, Densita quickly and efficiently calculates ROD (relative optical density), luminance, concentration, the area of your region of interest, ligand concentration, and the amount of radioactivity.
Densita can acquire new images, load previously-saved images, or read your existing MCID files. It also includes the ability to montage, and it supports multi-channel fluorescence images.
